Exam Format
4x Multiple Choice & 1x Written: Mathematics (60Q/30min), Numerical Reasoning (50Q/30min), Science Knowledge (30Q/30min), Science Reasoning (30Q/30min), Science Writing Skills (30min). Shortlisted students then do group activities and an interview.
Mathematics
Covers advanced algebra, functions, calculus fundamentals, trigonometry, geometry, probability, and statistics at a Year 10-11 level. Questions test deep conceptual understanding alongside procedural fluency. Multi-step problems requiring creative approaches are common.
Numerical Reasoning
Assesses the ability to work with numerical data, patterns, and quantitative relationships. Includes data interpretation from tables and graphs, number sequences, proportional reasoning, and estimation. Strong mental arithmetic skills are advantageous.
Science Reasoning
Tests scientific literacy across biology, chemistry, and physics. Students must interpret experimental data, evaluate hypotheses, identify variables, and draw evidence-based conclusions. 30 questions in 30 minutes.
Science Knowledge
Multiple-choice questions on science content itself, not just reasoning from given data. Expect Year 9-10 biology, chemistry, physics and earth science. 30 questions in 30 minutes.
Science Writing Skills
A 30-minute written task on a scientific scenario or topic. Assessed on accurate use of scientific terminology, logical structure, evidence-based reasoning and clear communication.
